Monitor splitters : What Your TV or the Computer May Need

Monitor splitters are quite popular due to its use of relaying images from various video sources concurrently in one monitor. The great advantage is that, there is no data loss in the process, and the image appears as in the original source. A monitor splitter comprises of a transmitter and a receiver and is capable of splitting the signals and boosting or amplifying every signal that is split to be displayed. These are offered in 2,4,8,or 16 ports or more configurations. There are various monitor splitters available in the market; S-video, HDMI video, VGA video/audio splitter, component video, composite video splitter, Quad splitter, etc. Each one of these relay different video signals and hence is classified accordingly.

Though there are various features in each of the model of splitter, the key or basic features are the same. All of these are very easy to install. They all operate in the plug and play function mode. There is absolutely no requirement of any extra software or device driver to run these splitters. The integrity of the signal is maintained even for long distance transmission. People often confuse it and think that this similar to ethernet splitters has to be used in pairs. This is not true since the working is different compared to ethernet splitters.

The basic model of all the splitters is the VGA splitter whereas, the latest is the Quad splitter model, and the most demanded models are the HDMI and VDI models. Quad is known to be the most innovative model that displays signals on a single display device with the signals from 4 different digital or analog sources.

The Quad unit has various display modes such as Quad mode, PIP mode, Dual mode, and Full screen mode.

All types of monitor splitters are CE and FCC certified. The RoHS complaint enables switching between the required sources through push buttons in the front panes and RS232. Latest models allow switching of sources through TCP/IP and IR control.
